Modern Farmhouse Style

Simple Pleasures are best and On Trend presently is the simplicity of the “Modern Farmhouse Style”

With this style we are able to create a mood of simple and casual sophistication. This style of decorating is warm, cozy and most importantly relaxing. Allowing for much character, it  features our modern sensibility and doesn’t look back to that “old country Kitsch” of yester-year.

In today’s modern farmhouse, there is a balance of old and new; and the decor combines the sleek and clean lines that most of us appreciate in a more modern design. Incorporated within this style is also the feeling of wanting to embrace our traditions and make us “feel good”

This style is created with the use of many natural textural items and materials such as wood, metals and galvanized steel. These metals can be mixed in colour choice and used in your hardware, lighting and architectural details such as stair railings.

Off whites with the use of neutrals is still the preferred colour choice however; we are seeing it paired with bold hues. These bold and bright colours can be seen in accessory furniture choices, yet these furnishings will not necessarily have the perfect paint job. The idea is still to portray in the design some much loved and well used items.

Presently we can utilize the Bohemian and industrial mix of accessories that can be found in our home décor stores today. You will want to mix with the woods and metals, fabrics like linens, cotton, wool and even chenille.

We can add homemade quilts, and pops of these bold colours in our soft accessories as well. And don’t forget pattern to add colour through the use of florals and paisley.

The accessories that you acquire and display will tell the tales of a well-travelled life and family. In this styling the choices you make will be more organic and bring the connection to the outdoors through the use of wicker, rattan and sisal rugs.

Modern farmhouse style is cozy yet still minimalist without being cluttered! Just a few well placed accessories will complete a stylish room you can breathe in.
