Trend Watch: All things Vintage

We are seeing a lot of vintage pieces making their way back into our lives and we are loving it! Here are just a few to key an eye out for:

The Encaustic tile originated in the 15th century. Commonly seen in European churches and palaces. Usually made from red clay impressed with a pattern and then kiln dried. Over time the cement tile look has evolved into different shapes and colour. The tile has become quite a trend over the last few years in modern designs. Many people are doing this for back splash, bathroom showers or even accents in a shower niche(shown above). You can find these tiles at your local tile shop

Rattan, a style of furniture that has been around since the 20th century. Rattan is a  sustainable material from the jungles of Asia, Malaysia and China. The furniture is know for Its great ability to bend and curve. It wasn't until the 70's that rattan furniture became popular in Canada and the USA. Adding in some rattan furniture to your space can definitely add a retro vibe to the space or complete that "boho" inspired look. You can find rattan furniture in a variety of different shapes and styles.

Vintage style appliances: Chic and retro! Who would have thought we would pair those words with a refrigerator. A style from the 50's, these Smeg refrigerators come in many vibrant colours.
