You may find yourself asking these questions when you are approaching a new project: What’s in? What’s not? How do I make the space feel like me?

The best way to achieve this is to do your homework. Spend time looking through platforms like décor magazines and Pinterest to find inspiration and then you will be armed with the material and questions once you are ready to begin.

For 2020, some definite ideas of inspiration that you will find are being utilized are vintage accents. You will see this even in more streamlined, modern looks. Some pieces will have traditional detail such as spooled legs and spindles. Just one or two vintage statement pieces will add a bit of that “ what is old is new again” feel to your space.

You will also find older spaces that exude character being offset with modern furnishings creating a fun juxtaposition between styles.

You will also note that Navy blue will be seen in both modern and traditional décor and is the colour that will bring drama to the space. Navy is a great colour to use as it has an awesome degree of classic contrast especially when combined with white trim and architectural features.

Colour is making its pop in unexpected places in 2020, especially in our kitchens. We have grown tired of white on white kitchens and will see base cabinetry or islands with a little spunk! Colouring leans towards dark reds, greens and navy mixed with open wood shelving or cabinetry.

Lastly, one thing to remember when taking on a new project is that inspiration can come from anywhere! Keep your eyes open and always pay attention to what you truly love because that is exactly what you want to surround yourself with.
