Prepare the surface:

The surface needs to be free of grease and oils in order for proper adhesion of the paint, so it is important to clean with a degreaser, sand with 100-150 grit sandpaper, then clean free of dust again and make sure any repairs to the piece are done at this stage.

Prime the Surface:

Next, prime your surface with a quality adhesion primer. We recommend the Benjamin Moore Advance primer. This will provide you with a smooth level finish as a base for the finish coat to adhere to.

Top Coat Sheen Decision:

Next you will want to consider the sheen of your finish coat. For pieces that are older and may have imperfections you may wish to consider a lower sheen finish coat in order to mask any imperfections in the furniture. If the desire is sleek and modern you may want the finished piece to have a high gloss. Benjamin Moore has many sheen levels available in the Advance Interior finish product.

Top Coat!:

Finally paint your furniture with 2 coats, allow to cure and then sit back and admire. The investment of your time & effort will be worth the final results!
